Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte – Mayor Seth Frederick P. Jalosjos signed a manifestation of intent (MOI) to join the Department of Science and Technology's (DOST) Smart and Sustainable Communities (SSC) Program.
The signing of the MOI is a significant step towards Dapitan's vision to become a Smart Heritage City by 2040. The SSC Program aims to assist LGUs in developing and implementing smart city initiatives that are aligned with their respective development plans.
Under the SSC Program, DOST will provide technical assistance to
Dapitan City in developing its smart city roadmap. The roadmap will identify
key areas for smart city development, as well as specific projects and
initiatives that can be implemented to achieve the city's vision.
DOST will also provide support in capacity building, research
and development, and technology transfer. This will help Dapitan City to
develop the necessary skills and knowledge to implement and manage its smart
city initiatives.
Mayor Jalosjos expressed his gratitude to DOST for its support
in Dapitan City's Smart Heritage City vision. He said that the SSC Program will
provide the city with the necessary tools and resources to achieve its goals of
becoming a more sustainable, livable, and inclusive city.
"We
are committed to making Dapitan City a Smart Heritage City. We believe that the
SSC Program will help us to achieve our vision for a more prosperous and
sustainable future for our city," Mayor Jalosjos said.
Dapitan City is the first LGU in Zamboanga del Norte to join the
SSC Program.
